The couple, now working full-time in digital media, recently spoke about their unique journey on the Skinfluencer Success podcast, hosted by British media personality Tanya Tate.
In the interview, Max reflected on meeting Hailey during their time at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He shared, “I had just ended a previous relationship to pursue a new creative path, so I wasn’t expecting to meet someone while figuring out my next steps.”
“But I really liked her,” Max shared. “I was falling in love quickly. Even though we decided to be together, we still felt drawn to exploring an open relationship. Things moved fast, and we found ourselves meeting other like-minded couples early on.”
Hailey agreed, saying, “We’ve always been open-minded and curious, so it felt like a natural step for us. It wasn’t a big leap it was something we had always considered.”
Their journey, however, required thoughtful conversations and clear boundaries. “After our first experience, we had to sit down and talk through everything,” Hailey explained. “It’s important to understand what each person is comfortable with and to set clear expectations. Even when you’re exploring, the foundation has to be mutual respect and care.”
Hailey emphasized that what works for one couple might not work for another. “We’ve found that a more relaxed approach suits us best. We support each other and value the freedom to grow through new experiences.”
Max added that while they keep things flexible, they do have certain non-negotiables. “There are a few boundaries we’ve agreed on that help keep our connection strong. For example, we’ve made it a rule not to spend the night away from each other that time is important to us.”
Laughing, Hailey noted, “There are certain parts of our relationship that I prefer to keep just between us but when it comes to personal freedom, we’ve always been supportive of each other.”
Their journey soon took an unexpected turn when they began sharing aspects of their lifestyle online. The real shift came when their content gained unexpected traction eventually landing them on the front page of Reddit. That’s when they realized this might be more than just a personal hobby it could become a real business.
“I actually did things a little backward,” Hailey shared. “I left my job first and then launched my online platform. That’s how committed we were we believed in what we were doing from the start.”
As interest grew, the couple knew it was time for a serious conversation about their future and the impact of growing visibility.
“Once Reddit started getting attention, we had to stop and think,” Max explained. “We asked ourselves, are we ready for this level of exposure? What happens if people recognize us in public or if our families find out? We had to be honest with each other about the next steps.”
“We sat down and talked it through for maybe five minutes,” Max recalled. “And we both agreed let’s go for it. We wanted to pursue success on our own terms, and there was no reason to feel embarrassed about our goals.”
That moment became the turning point that propelled their new venture forward. Their early content quickly gained massive attention online, reaching millions of views and signaling the start of a thriving digital career.
Since then, Max and Hailey have fully embraced their path, building a business around content creation and collaborating with well-known names in the online entertainment world.
